PC NEWS – Microsoft and Relic (creators of Company of Heroes and other RTS games) have released an announcement trailer for their up and coming Age of Empires IV game. While there isn’t a lot of information about the gameplay just yet, we can assume by the trailer that it will involve Tribal Indians, British Redcoats, and Asian warriors. Not much is posted about other civilizations though.
It’s interesting to note that at the end of the trailer, it has Win 10 fading in the background. I’m not sure if that means you’ll need Win 10 to play it or will it be exclusive to Microsft’s Windows store only. I hope that’s not the case since I really want it integrated into my Steam library.
Relics official site has the following posted:
1997 gave us two things that shaped who we are today: the start of Relic Entertainment; and a then-newly released game called Age of Empires. It’s no secret that we’re the biggest fans of RTS games and, over the years, we’ve spent countless hours building empires and taking to battle.
We wonder what our team would have said way back then, if someone told us that Relic would eventually partner with Microsoft Studios to make the next game in that legendary series. Something tells us we might have been just determined enough to think, “yeah, of course we will!”
Now that the dream has become a reality with the announcement of Age of Empires IV, we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the legacy. We can’t wait to tap into our strengths as a studio to fuse historical context with deep strategic gameplay, and to bring this franchise back to the forefront of gaming and into the hands of its beloved community.
It doesn’t talk about it being a Win 10 exclusive, so who knows. I love the AoE franchise regardless, so hearing this news made me all giddy inside even if it means it won’t be available on Steam.
